10 Killer SEO tips to Optimize Your Website in SERP

Posted by Technology Cracks 46 Comments
SERP is the short way of saying search engine results page. In life, people create acronyms for stings of words because on the one hand they save time and on the other hand there are a lot of people with TMTOTHs (too much time on their hands). Here are ten SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tips to get you to the top of the SERP.

1 - The Meta description may appear in the SERP

The Meta description may appear in the search engine results pages if it has keywords in it. It may also have the phrase in it that the user typed into the search engine. It may also appear if Google does not see any information on your web page that is of enough use when considering what the user typed into Google. That is why it is important to remember your Meta description.

2 - Your first lines of introduction may appear in the SERP

se
Google is going to look through your website to see the most useful snippet it can find to place on the Google search engine results pages. It is going to look to your Meta data and then down your page. That is why it is very common to see part of the introduction on the search engine results preview bit, so make sure your introduction is optimized.

3 - Your title may appear in the SERP

4 - Add around 12 Meta keywords

The Meta keywords are going to be indexed by the search engine. The search engine is then going to try and match them with words in your web page. That is one of the ways it tries to check and understand what your web page is all about. It takes clues from things such as your Meta keywords so try to pick ones that appear in the web content.

5 - Anchor text leading to the page should have a keyword

This means anchor text from other internal and external pages. They are going to point links at your web page, so you must try to have a few of them with a keyword or two that is relevant to your web page. The anchor text is used by Google to try and figure out what your web page is all about because it is only a program and cannot understand what a page is all about (it has to guess).

6 - Try to put a keyword or two in your introduction

Having at least two keywords helps to show Google what your page is all about. The position of a keyword on a page (top, middle or bottom) used to matter, and then it didn’t. Nowadays we are told it still shouldn’t, but tests show that putting a keyword in the top 3rd of a page is better and this is most likely due to the use of mobile Internet, as most people land on a page and can only see the first 3rd.

7 - Your H1 header tag should have a keyword in it

The header tag should be used more like a sub title. This is especially true if you have tried to make your title descriptive but could not fit a decent keyword in it, or if it was a little vague and needs some clarification via the sub title. Add in your subtitle within the H1 tag and make sure there is a keyword present in it.

8 - Optimize page elements such as images, videos, widgets, etc

This is done in order to complete the keyword profile of your page. Adding in relevant Meta data (making sure the ALT text is descriptive) is going to help Google figure out what your page is all about and rank you higher as a result.

9 - A fast loading page is eligible for the first Google results page

Having a fast loading website is not going to put you on the first page of the Google search engine results, but if your page is slow to load then Google will hold off putting it on the first page. All of your other SEO elements may be perfect, but if you have a slow loading time then you are going to struggle to reach the top of the Google search engine results pages.

10 - Use W3c Validation to help get it right

The W3c validation has nothing at all to do with SEO, but it is a good thing to use because it is going to highlight errors you may have made. Some of the errors it picks up on may be errors that Google does not like either. That is why it is a good idea to run a check. It is a good idea to have someone check over your programming anyway, so why not use a validator?

Best 10 Hidden Features of Windows 8

Posted by Technology Cracks 2 Comments
Now days so many people think that Windows 7 is better than Windows 8.But I shortlisted why Windows 8 is better compared to Windows 7.Windows 8 is the latest version that was released from Microsoft. It adds more features and I listed some of the Features that are existed in Windows 8.

  Hidden start menu

So many people are shocking that where is start button in Windows 8.But there exists an Hidden Start button .It provides many Options like Device manager, Disk Management etc..,.
Actually it’s not a start button it’s a shortcut using Win+X.

  Easy Screenshot

In windows Image capturing is done very easily by simple Pressing Win+Prtscr it automatically saves as PNG files.

   Fast booting Time

In windows 7 the minimum boot time is 1 minute. But whereas for Windows 8 the boot time is less than 20 seconds. This is called as hybrid boot.
This is the excellent feature that was developed by Microsoft. Even whenever you shutdown It takes less than 10 seconds and in the same way for start-up it takes less than 20 seconds.

  Improved Task Manager

The task manger of windows 7 was vanished and added much more information in Windows 8.It added the performance like CPU usage, Memory Usage, Disk Usage, Bluetooth Usage, Ethernet Usage and Wi-Fi Usage.

  Synchronize your settings

If you are using the Microsoft Live account you can directly synchronize the personalisation settings and other Windows settings with your online account. These settings can also be synchronised by Multiple PC’s.

  Excellent File Transfer

Windows 8 takes very less time for transferring files compared to Windows 7.In windows 8 the transfer rate is around 20MB/sec.
This is also one of the best features of Windows 8.

  Inbuilt PDF Reader

Windows 8 provides Default PDF Reader which helps not to install any other third party softwares like Adobe Reader etc..

An Excellent Option of Reset and Refresh

This is one of the feature that was existed in Windows 8 which is not existed in Windows 7.Reset and Refresh are two options that are existed in Windows 8.
Refresh:
If your PC is not  working Properly then you use this option .
Reset:
Reset is nothing but removing all the apps from the PC and again reinstall Windows without the OS CD.

  Inbuilt Anti-virus and Anti-spyware

Why to use third part Antivirus? It’s better to use the Microsoft Security Essentials if you are using Genuine Windows 8.It has some better advantage if any other third software like Avast or Avira is installed automatically Microsoft Security Essentials will be automatically turned off .It is the best advantage.

Disadvantage of using more than one anti-virus.

One software file (Avast software file) detects another software file(Avira software file) as Virus and both will crash and finally No anti-virus works for your PC.

Mounting ISO files without using any third party software

In windows 8 there is a special feature.you can view /mount ISO files directly without using any other external software. Whenever you just double click on ISO files it automatically creates a Virtual Drive.

         Drawbacks of Windows 8

1.  No start button. You can check out the post how I get thestart button in Windows 8
2.  Bluescreenof Death.Check out the Post to Fix Blue Screen of Death in Windows 8.

How to find out if my site/blog is hit by Google Hummingbird Algorithm or not

Posted by Technology Cracks 5 Comments
The Hummingbird update was released in early December and is supposed to be the biggest and most fundamental change since they introduced the caffeine indexing system in 2010. Where other updates have been a patch on top of existing software, this update is more of fundamental code change. The effects of this update are not yet clear, as only a few websites have dropped dramatically. Here are a few clues as to if you are being influenced or hit by the Hummingbird update.

Have your websites dropped rank since December 2013?

You may not be looking for a sudden drop as you may have noticed with previous Google updates. This drop may be a more insidious drop. You may be doing your usual SEO work and yet your ranking is dropping. It may be that as people change the way they do SEO then the results will start to change in a more obvious fashion. You need to trace back your rankings to see if your trouble started around December 2013

Have your websites been rising in rank since December 2013?

You may have been hit in another way and it may be that your ranking is rising. Not everybody is negatively affected by Google updates. The people who fall in rank have to be replaced by somebody else. Are your rankings improving? If so it may be a good idea to keep doing the SEO stuff that you normally do. In other words, you should keep up the good work and be thankful that the current Google update approves of your SEO methods.

Have you noticed that your backlinking efforts have been fruitless recently?

One note about the Google Hummingbird update is its affect on backlinks. We all know that backlinks have been the most powerful SEO factor in a while, and previous updates have all affected them in some way. One assumes that the most current update is going to affect them again, and most obvious way is by making some forms (or all forms) of backlink less effective when considering your SEO.

Is your search engine rank roughly the same but less traffic appears?

This is something that a clever or observant person may spot, and it has a twist of counter-intuitiveness to it. Are your search engine rankings roughly the same but your traffic numbers are shrinking? If this is the case then the Hummingbird has hit you and it has done it by making the search queries you used to benefit from less popular. This means you still rank at the same place but less people are typing in the search queries needed to see you.

Have you noticed that some pages are now ranking above others?

This is where your own website has a shift and some pages start to become more popular than they used to be. This is probably due to the Hummingbird update and you may learn from the ones that are ranking up to see if you can apply those principles to the rest of your website.

Are your longer content-filled pages ranking higher?

Google did say that the longer detail/content filled articles were going to be the ones that ranked the highest. Have a look at your content to see if your longer content-filled pages are ranking higher. You are being affected by the Google Hummingbird if they are.

Are your more flimsy pages less search engine friendly?

This is the opposite of the point above. This is another sign that your website has been hit by the Hummingbird update. The more flimsy pages are bound to go down the search engine results pages. But, many pages have little content in them if they have another use. If your web page does have another use such as a tool or useable page element then it should not really go down in the search engine results unless the page SEO is really bad.

Don’t worry too much about your PageRank

It may be that the PageRank function is being retired or slowed down to a stop. Your PageRank may have fallen at the end of the year 2013, but you need not worry too much about it as it may not be a terribly bad thing.

Try a keyword heavy web page and a content heavy web page

Create a web page that has a lot of keywords and a web page that is heavy on content but does not really have a stand-out keyword percentage. See if one ranks above the other and you may see how the Google Hummingbird update is affecting you.
